Dirk Tirez, Bpost CEO calls for support to endorse Belgium's candidacies and priorities for UPU
Dear friends-postal operators,
I am delighted to address you on the evening of our congress which can now finally take place in beautiful Abidjan. Leaders are merchants of hope to quote Napoleon. I look forward to a great long term sustainable future for our industry.
Indeed, in the current VUCA (Volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity) world post Covid, our noble purpose, roles and opportunities are more important than ever before: we connect people in a changing world. We are the human face in a digital world, and the social lift for short-skilled workers.
UPU, our association, is crucial to achieving our global ambitions. We are actively contributing to solutions that respond to current and future challenges of society in an inclusive and sustainable way. That is why Belgium is a candidate for the UPU's Council of Administration and Postal Operations Council. I am kindly asking for your support and vote.
"We endorse the four priorities put forward by Jack Hamande, candidate for the position of Director General of the UPU International Bureau:" said Dirk Tirez
- Inclusive Development
- Innovation and growth
- Ecommerce solutions for our customers in a sustainable way
- Governance excellence and financial sustainability
By focusing on these priorities, we are not only ensuring the future of our industry. We are also providing meaning for every citizen in the world.
President Obama once cried out loud, "Yes, we can." I would like to add: "Indeed, we are already doing it."
Thank you for your support and I wish you an exciting congress.
